Tho-Radia Enamelled sheet metal advertising plate forming a barometer. Illustration after Tony Burnand (1892-1969) H. 85 cm - W. 33 cm - D. 4 cm (wear and oxidation) Tho-Radia was a French pharmaceutical company specializing in the manufacture of cosmetics between 1932 and 1968. Until 1937, the particularity of the brand's products - creams, toothpastes and soaps - was that they contained radium and thorium, taking advantage of the popularity of radium recently discovered by Pierre and Marie Curie. It was Alfred Curie who registered the Tho-Radia trademark on November 29, 1932, with the slogan: "Formule du Docteur Alfred Curie", thus playing on his prestigious family name, albeit with no family ties to the future Nobel Prize winners.
