Blue-glazed white porcelain jar, China, Wanli period, 1573-1620 Four large round medallions featuring bamboo, birds, pierced rocks, peony blossoms, chrysanthemums and clouds decorate the ovoid-shaped body, set against a background of five horizontal friezes alternating floral and foliage motifs with small, highly stylized landscapes. The neck and foot are curved and then flared. Unglazed base. H. 34 cm (very damaged and rebuilt, pieces missing)
