Walking and dancing doll by Jules Nicolas Steiner, 1867 patent.
This doll is a model from the 1875/1880 period, with porcelain head and collar, fixed blue glass eyes, open mouth with 2 rows of small teeth. When the key-operated mechanism is wound up, the doll moves forward, makes sounds (papa, mama) and turns in circles. This model features wooden arms and porcelain forearms. The fabric-covered cardboard skirt that conceals the mechanism is in fine original condition, as is the leather bust. Original clothes and 2-piece costume in very faded green silk, original wig. The doll is presented in an antique box.
