Small lacquered wood cabinet, Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) With a nashiji base decorated in gold and black maki e with lacustrine landscapes. It opens with a vertical sliding panel revealing five small drawers, red lacquered and decorated in gold hira maki e with momiji flowers on the surface of the water. The drawer grips are in pressed metal decorated with dragons in clouds. The case is fitted with kanamono chased with scrolls. Those on the front are in the form of butterflies. Two silver-plated handles on the top allow the box to be picked up. H. 17 cm - W. 24.5 cm - D. 17 cm (missing kanamono, minor lacquer damage)
