First edition illustrated with 4 very large original lithographs, printed separately from the text and signed by the painter, lithographer, and engraver CORNEILLE (1922–2010). Limited edition of 95 copies on Arches vellum, signed by Corneille on the margin. Proof copy, unnumbered but bearing the artist’s signature on the margin. It comes from the collection of Pierre Jean Mathan, who oversaw the letterpress printing of the work. Water stains, which do not affect the plates. Provenance: Pierre Jean Mathan Collection.
