THE DROUOT GAZETTE | AUCTIONS IN PARIS AND THE ÎLE-DE-FRANCE REGION
A Scene of Maternal Tenderness
In the second half of the 1950s, Mai-Thu (1906–1980), who for several years had been enjoying success among French collectors and selling her paintings at good prices, began producing small, colorful silk paintings featuring her traditional subjects—children, family scenes,
educational moments—for which he crafted the frames himself. This 1958 work, *Mother and Children* (23.5 x 22.5 cm), is part of this series; and will be offered for between €15,000 and €20,000 on Tuesday, June 23, at Drouot (Room 4) by Nicolas Nouvelet Auctioneer (Ms. Souksi, Mr. Fray)
